These Are Fun

Organizing one's fabric stash is a very calming activity - why wouldn't it be - it involves ironing and sorting. My stash is arranged pretty much by color, except for my weird collection of holiday fabrics (I have no idea who would want a Halloween quilt, but I have the fabric for it, if needed!).

Anyway, these color blocks are paper-pieced, so all the points are just right. I'm not sure what I'll do with them, but I'm enjoying making them, trying to use 9 different prints of the same color value (correct art term?? - how I wish I'd paid more attention to Mrs. VonDerHayden in 8th grade art class).

I'm walking again in the early morning. Got new sneakers and everything (geez, they're so white they glow in the early morning dawn - I'm hoping they'll blind any gators returning to their water holes after a night of gator carousing). --cds

Not Le Creuset, But Close Enough

Is it possible to be in love with one's cookware? Meet my new pot, soon to be filled with yum soups, stews and sauces. It's Martha Stewart's, on sale from Macy's - it weighs a ton and I have to begin a new weight-lifting regime just to be able to heft it from shelf to stove.

I'm obsessing over making homemade stock and may soon have to break my lifelong moratorium on purchasing veal shanks. --cds
