Everglades

We drove down to Everglades City last weekend to take an air boat ride through the mangroves with my aunt and uncle - they're very adventurous. It was a very fun ride - interesting landscape - and we got to see aligators up close and personal.
Sometimes TOO up close and personal. This is a shot of James and our driver, Javier - a couple of good-looking, outdoorsy guys, yes?

Let The Gardening Begin

I am becoming the Queen of Container Gardening - on wheels, too! Here is tub o'Bird of Paradise.
A few Portulaca for the real sunny spots.
My must-have Zinnias.
Ummm, I don't know what the yellow flower is.
Herbs....
and Tomatoes -- the makings of a nice marinara come June or July. Hopefully.
A closeup of my new Azalea, Lavender Formosa.
A bumbley-bee.
A job well done.

How Adorable Are These Chicks?

So cute, huh? Our Sandhill Crane family has a new family of twins. The parents are pretty protective, but there are lots of hungry predators in the area - hawks, eagles and alligators. The weather is so Spring-like here. I didn't think Florida had a real Spring season. I expect we'll scoot to Hot real soon. Frankly, I'm looking forward to it. --cds

Princess Half Marathon

My camera has experienced a major malfunction and I hate to post without a photo, so I've stolen my young cousin's photos of her participation in the Disney Princess Half Marathon over the weekend. This is Cousin Alicia. We went to cheer her on, braving the early morning hour and the 40 degree temps. I'm sure she would have posted a serious time had she not stopped along the way for photo ops with Princesses. She is so cute.

So now I think I need to buy a new camera. I'd rather be buying flowers, of course. --cds
